Grant's use of the St. Valentine's Day massacre as the theme for the Challenge led to thoughts of mayhem and, along with a random association to 'Romancing the Stone', led to this image of a dying hand clutching a heart-shaped ruby. The hand is a modified Photo Object. The ruby began as a custom shape and has an added bevel layer style and thickness via the alt-move method. An inner glow provides the bright central highlight. The blood is thresholded render>clouds layer plus a shallow bevel with the opacity reduced. The background is a cork fill. The overall look comes from separate merged layers altered with the poster edges and halftone filters at reduced opacity.
