Perhaps
the inevitable followup to the previous image -- the aftermath
of burning desire. I thickened a black copy of the word
by duplicating and nudging the copies up and to the right,
then merging. The original layer and a white outline were
preserved on separate layers. I used layer masks with
a combination of gradients and the brush set at dissolve
to burn down the letters. The ash heaps were created by
filling a layer with 70% gray and adding noise, then using
the render>lighting filter to get some depth. The heart-shaped
ember still glowing at the base of the 'd' is a masked
Elements custom shape. Love, it seems, endures.
