I suppose this could mean I have a good deal of unconscious hostility to ducks (which probably represent something else). I was thinking about rubber ducks and how they eventually develop cracks and then you can tell they are hollow. I started by creating the thick edge that becomes visible at a crack and then began thinking of how I could arrange for this to happen in the image. An axe came to mind -- this one (and the towels) started as a Photo Object. I embedded the axe in the towel with a mask and added a little motion blur to a copy of the left half of the duckie to suggest a recent action.
