Coloring the wooden chess pieces red led me to think of redwoods and the way the sunlight streams through the trees in Muir Woods. The red chess pieces were textured using an image of a redwood trunk and enlarged or toppled to substitute for trees. The ferns are Photo Objects and the background is a stock photo. The light beams were made with a low opacity white layer and a layer mask with the areas between beams blacked out with feathered lines.
