Clowns,
of course, reminded me of the circus. One of the highlights
of my youth was a family trip to see Ringling Brothers/Barnum
& Bailey under the big top on the Washington, DC mall.
I tried to capture a version of the old-fashioned circus
poster -- the kind they used to put up on the sides of
barns. The originals try to jam in as many different aspects
of the circus as possible, so I did the same here. The
images are modified Photo Objects. The font, appropriately
enough, is Circus. The frame is from a Dover disk of decorative
ornaments that I used to try to capture the carvings on
the old steam calliopes and circus wagons.
