Commentary

A colorized version of the previous restoration. I used solid color adjustment layers set to color blend mode with masks for most of the colorization. For the dress, I made a separate layer from a selection of the gingham, applied the find edges filter, then used curves to exaggerate the light/dark differences and deleted the white. This left me with some of the crossing lines, which I colored green and then used as an overlay on a blue colorized version of the dress. If you don't look too closely, it looks like the green is part of the pattern. Having learned that the child is a boy and that prior to 1920 pink was a boy's color (so masculine, they said), I used that color for his dress.
