The surfer about to wipe out came as an association to the position of the dancer's leg while I was wondering about other possible settings for the statue. The wave was borrowed from another photo and sections of foam copied and pasted to create this particular configuration. The wet suit, skin color and blond hair were done with color adjustment layers. A motion blur was added to a duplicate of the surfer and then moved beneath the original to add a sense of movement.
